25th August 2018

June - Gateway woods and Wood End

Despite a bout of illness from a few runners our compact group set out from the Forest Centre. The route took us past Millbrook Station, towards Granary woods and up the Folly Wood climb to take in the panoramic views of Bedfordshire.

From here we looped into Cranfield taking in some of the John Bunyan Trail and managed to explore Wood End Thrift, making it three different forests for the day!

July  - Gateway and Rectory Woods

News of our trails series had grown and we quadrupled in size for this one. Despite a minor taxi mishap, 15 runners took off from the Forest Centre and headed out towards Kempston.

A gloriously sunny day had us taking in a large loop which meandered through Gateway Wood and Rectory Woods. Then back to the Forest Centre where we took in the some of Millennium country parks hidden trails towards the windmill, and treated ourselves to lunch at the cafe.

August - The Grange Estate and Octagon Woods

A full house of runners split into two pace groups for our final leg. We started at Bedford station following the river out towards the Grange Estate

We looped in and out of the countryside and with this being the flattest trail run to date both groups made a good consistent pace.

We finished off at the lake and were refuelled by The Green Foodies Kitchen with some tasty plant based treats.
