The Chess Valley trail is a 10 mile route that follows the River Chess from Chesham to Rickmansworth.

The surrounding landscape is rich with wildlife and along the way we will pass historic buildings, water meadows, ancient field systems and nature reserves.

Join us for this flat and scenic trail run on Sunday February 17th.

Route

The trail itself winds its way along the River Chess and therefore is predominately flat.

There are plenty of points of interest along the way along with an excellent selection of wildlife.

Travel

Rail

You can travel with the Runaway Adventures team from Marylebone Station boarding the train to Chalfont & Latimer (31 minutes), then changing to the tube for 1 stop to Chesham.

We then depart back to Marylebone from Rickmansworth (51 past the hour), journey time 29 minutes.

This option is faster but slightly more expensive at £11.20. You can add these tickets when signing up for the run.

Underground

You can get to and from this run via the Metropolitan line. The run starts at Chesham and finishes at Rickmansworth.

Travel to Chesham from Kings Cross takes 62 minutes and returning from Rickmansworth takes 45. The cost for this is £8.10.

Please arrive at Chesham for a 10:45 start and pay for the journey using Contactless/Oyster.

Driving

If you're driving you can park in Chesham and then hop on the underground to get back to the start after the run.

Refreshment

The run will finish at Cafe in the Park in Rickmansworth. They have a good looking food menu and excellent coffee. Please do join us for lunch.

The walk back to the station is around 10 minutes.

Chris is an ultra-runner and founder of Runaway Adventures.

He has completed a number of long distance events, most recently the Lofoten Ultra Trail (50 miles) in Norway.

Chris is certified as a Fell/Trail Leader in Running Fitness and is Outdoor First Aid trained.
