A weekend of trail running in the South Downs

Overview

Join us on a two day weekend adventure along the trails of the South Downs national park.

This is a mixed trip open to all. You do not need to be an experienced trail runner to join, but you should be able to run 20km.

Accommodation

Where

We will be staying in the Whetherdown Eco Lodge on the doorstep of the South Downs way path.

Rooms

The accommodation has a mixture of room sizes. Most rooms are either two or three people in single beds. We will allocate rooms based on preference. If there is availability you can choose to pay extra for a private room.

Routes

There will be four guided trail runs throughout the weekend. The two longer morning runs are below.

 

Long run #1

Saturday morning

A 23km circular route starting on the South Downs Way, entering Queen Elizabeth Country Park and looping back through Clanfield.

Distance — 23km (14.2 miles)
Total Ascent — 398m
Total Descent — 378m

 

Long run #2

Sunday morning

An undulating 25km route following the South Downs Way. The route will finish at The White Horse for a Sunday roast (included in the price).

Travel

Arriving

By train:

There are regular trains to Petersfield departing from London Waterloo (1h30). We will offer a free pickup service to our base between 4-6pm on the Friday.

By car:

For drivers the postcode is GU32 1HR. There is parking available for free at our base.

Departing

If you are departing by train we will drop people off at Petersfield station after lunch on Sunday afternoon.


Food & drink

The accommodation has both an on-site cafe and self catering facilities.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be provided. There will be plenty of high carb options to get fuelled for the day.

Lunch

We will eat at the cafe on-site after our first long run. On day two we'll finish our run at a local pub.

Dinner

On both evenings we will select a local restaurant/pub to eat together as a group. There is also the option to cook on-site.

Snacks/Gels

We will provide some snacks and gels during the weekend, but we would recommend bringing some extras.
